Terms of Use
These terms add to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which also applies to the app.
What the app does
Hitome teaches Japanese kana, kanji, readings and words with questions on the Lock Screen, in notifications and in the app. It does not teach grammar and does not promise a JLPT result.
Dictionary data
Kanji meanings, readings and words come from KANJIDIC2 and JMdict by the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, stroke order from KanjiVG by Ulrich Apel, and example sentences from Tatoeba. They are shared under Creative Commons licenses, listed on the licenses page. Meanings are short dictionary glosses and can miss a nuance.
Free use and Pro
The first 10 kanji of your plan, the placement test and a Lock Screen question during setup are free. Hitome Pro adds Lock Screen and notification questions, the review schedule, kana and all 2,136 kanji from N5 to N1, writing practice and Home Screen widgets.
Pro Lifetime is a one-time purchase.
Pro Yearly and Pro Weekly renew automatically until you cancel. Payment is taken from your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. New Pro Yearly subscribers start with a 7-day free trial, and the date of the first charge is shown before you start. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly price is charged. To avoid a later charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel the subscription in iPhone Settings under your name, then Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple.
Liability
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for exam results or other outcomes of using the app.
